?Gadgets should be about creating stuff on your own?

What I really love about my job is the holistic marketing programmes we create.

1 The job: What I really love about my job is the holistic marketing programmes we create. Our campaigns on investing vs trading and portfolio construction/ re-structuring and a first of its kind reality show ?Investor Ki Kahani Usi Ki Zubani?are some recent examples. Creating these campaigns in almost real time involves teamwork, instant decision making and flexibility?all of which I enjoy. In this cluttered marketplace, to be able to consist-ently create a unique, relevant and consistent position in the minds of consumers is another thing I really enjoy. Another aspect of my job I enjoy is that we can use digital marketing. Our widget based website?MyMotilal Oswal?is an example of our digital marketing efforts. Having moved from advertis-ing, the one thing I sometimes miss are the late nights we used to keep when working on a business pitch.

2 The weekdays: The first half of my day in office is spent in ideation, strategy and planning. The second half is spent on review meetings and also discussions on various initiatives with the business heads of other departments who get free once the stock market closes at 3:30pm. By around 6:30 pm, I am gearing up for something I really look forward to?a 1-hour session in our office gym. I spend the rest of the evening toggling between listening to music, watching sports / movies on TV and fooling around with various apps on my smartphone.

3 The weekend: Around four years back I got bitten by the trekking bug. Since then I have trekked to the Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Base Camp, Stok Kangri and Mt Kilimanjaro summit, among others. I find the outdoors, in general, and trekking, in particular, relaxing and adrenalising?both at the same time! Hence, every alternate weekend I go for short treks to the Sahyadri ranges. I also enjoy long distance motorbiking (have biked to Goa and Khardung La in Leh) and on some weekends combine that with a trek. On the weekends I am in Mumbai, I play tennis, read books (mainly biographies) and karaoke the night away.

4 The toys: I am inseparable from my smartphone( I bought my first one in 2003- a Motorola!) and currently have one that is large and powerful enough to double up as a tablet as well. Rather than technology doing everything for me, I think gadgets should be all about exploring, discovering and creating stuff on your own. Hence I prefer gadgets that have open systems and are flexible enough for customising.

Being an audiophile, the one gadget I am really crazy about is my home entertainment system. After hooking up the audiophile quality speakers and amplifier, I have been tinkering with it and now have various add-ons (media players, networked streaming video, multi-room play, projector, etc.,).

5 The logos: When it comes to automobiles I am a Royal Enfield fan. I think it is truly a brand that epitomises the spirit of freedom. In technology I am loyal to Android for the flexibility it gives to experimenting. I also admire Google as a technology brand. I swear by the quality of Bowers & Wilkins speakers, the grip and comfort of Saloman trekking boots and the value for money of the anti-sweat Adidas Clima Lite series of apparel (besides Adidas?s attitude based positioning).
