1 The job: One of the most satisfying things about working at Groupon is that your work brings a smile to people’s faces whenever they see awesome deals. The happiness is contagious. Thus, it almost feels like doing social work and getting paid for it too. The sad part is that this does not happen 100% of the times. There are times when you are bound by external factors and you really try very hard but still some customers are not happy.
2 The weekdays: Weekdays start at around 6:30 am checking mails and usually last till about 9 pm in office. Not much you can do after a long day, but I try my best to read whatever I can, especially things that interest me and, yes, spend a little time with my two-year-old son. Regular workouts have been on my agenda, but I have not been successful in adhering to the routine. I look forward to coming to office and work with my fantastic team. The Groupon India squad is full of energy, we love our coffee breaks and brainstorming sessions to discuss the next big idea. Groupon is one of the fastest growing companies in the world and speed means everything to us. Work hours are hectic but a lot of fun. What I don’t like is trying to park my car in the parking lot just below our office. It’s a mess and sometimes takes about 20 minutes.
3 The weekend: Weekends are mostly reserved for family. I love to spend some quality time with my kid trying to teach him to ride a tri-cycle, making him learn the basics of holding a cricket bat. Yes, I love cooking and Sunday breakfasts are usually my responsibility.
4 The toys: To be honest, I still love toys, even more than my kid. I am die-hard DC fan and Batman is a character I am completely mad about. My Batman collectibles are very close to my heart and I don’t like sharing them with anyone.
Besides toys, I love watches and have a decent collection. In terms of gadgets, I love my iPad, I just can’t stay without it now. I used to be a gaming freak, but lack of time had been slowly killing my hobby until I re-discovered it on my iPad.
5 The logos: I am a marketeer and am pretty fascinated by brands. One brand that I don’t own but really admire is?Harley Davidson. It’s been around for more than a century now, but it just keeps getting better with age. It’s been a cult and I am sure will remain like that for many more centuries to come. Brands I love and use are – Adidas, Levis, Arrow and Amazon.
