Chatushrungi police on Monday arrested Mahipalsingh Patiram Baghel (25), the accused in the murder of foodstall vendor Arvind Kuswah (26) whose decapitated body was found in a field at Balewadi on Sunday afternoon. He was produced in court on Tuesday and remanded in police custody till October 6.
According to police, Kushwah had loaned Rs 12,000 to one Raibahadur Ramsiya Baghel - an absconding accused. On Saturday evening, Raibahadur had come to Kushwah’s house and both of them went out after which Kushwah never returned.
Police Inspector (crime) Subhash Nikam investigating the case said, “Kushwah was demanding his money back which enraged Raibahadur. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Kushwah was brutally murdered by Raibahadur, Mahipalsingh and three others, Parmar, Rampal and Lalusingh. The three are absconding.”
Kushwah’s nephew Nilesh (17) had lodged a complaint against Raibahadur with the Chatushrungi police station. Kushwah and Raibahadur hail from Madhya Pradesh and had been staying in Pune for the past one year, police said.
On Sunday, a resident of Balewadi informed Chatushrungi police about severed head and torso of a man lying in a field. Police found a PAN card and a mobile phone in the pocket of the deceased identified as Kushwah.
