A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped at knifepoint by five persons in East Delhi’s Madhu Vihar area on Wednesday evening. Police said two of the five accused who were apprehended on Wednesday night were juveniles.
“The victim had gone to meet a friend in a park on Wednesday evening when four more persons joined him. They then allegedly took turns to rape the girl at knifepoint. After the victim filed an FIR, police managed to apprehend three persons, two of whom were juveniles.
Two accused are still absconding,” a senior police officer said.
According to police, the girl had gone to meet a male friend, a juvenile, in a DDA park in Madhu Vihar area around 6.30 pm on Wednesday evening. After a while, another common friend joined them. Subsequently, three other persons who the girl did not know turned up at the park as well.
The girl suspected she was in trouble and tried to leave, but her friend convinced her against doing so. The five then took her to a secluded area near Mandawali railway lines, police said.
Police said the five then raped her. They threatened her against telling anybody and fled the scene. The girl managed to return home and tell her family. Her parents filed an FIR in Madhu Vihar police station on Wednesday night. The victim was sent for a medical examination to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital.
Police registered a case against the five under the POCSO Act and 376 (2) g (gangrape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons) of the IPC.
