The Uttar Pradesh government?s prestigious Rs 7,000 crore, 150-km, 8-laned access controlled Upper Ganga Canal Expressway project, that would run from Greater Noida to Purkazi, on the Uttarakhand border, has received a fairly good response. As many as seven companies submitted technical bids for the project. While Jaypee Associates, IRB Infrastructure, ESC Apollo and Isolux submitted bids individually, some companies formed consortium to bid for the project. Reliance Infrastructure and Reliance Infra Ventures formed a consortium as did Shreya Infrastructure with PNC and Galstar and Era Infrastructure tied up with Sidmost.

The bid evaluation committee, which opened the bids, will now evaluate the bids and check their responsiveness and those companies which would be found technically acceptable, will be short listed and asked to submit financial bids.

Speaking to FE, an official said that the consultant will submit its report to the evaluation committee in a week?s time, after which the project will be taken forward. It may be mentioned that the UP Government has tried to add sweeteners to the project to make it attractive for private developers. In fact, the government has framed it in a way that private developers not only bid for it but in fact put a negative bid. It is in step with this mindset, that the government is offering 571 hectares for right of way (ROW) of trunk expressway in addition to another 100 hectares for land parcels free of cost.
