Jamshedpur Utilities & Services Company (Jusco), a 100% Tata Steel subsidiary into providing civic and municipal services in the country, entered south India by laying the foundation stone of a Rs 66.45-crore water system project for Uranium Corporation of India (Ucil) at Tummalapalle in Andhra Pradesh.
Atomic energy commission chairman Anil Kakodkar, Jusco managing director Sanjiv Paul and other senior executives of both Jusco and Ucil were present at the occasion.
The project envisages design, construction and commissioning on engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) basis of an intake well & pump house, laying of cross-country pipeline from the Chitravoti river to the uranium ore processing plant, the water treatment plant, the effluent treatment plant, the condensate recovery unit and a water supply network inside the plant and colony.
“The bagging of the Ucil project is yet another feather in Jusco’s cap whose efforts in the water sector have been recognised globally by Global Water Intelligence (GWI), UK and Asia Water, Malaysia,” said Rajesh Rajan, head, corporate communication, Jusco.
While GWI has certified Jusco as “one of the most effective water service providers in the Indian subcontinent” for 2008, Asia Water has conferred Jusco with the 5th Asia Water Management Excellence Award for 2007-08.
The utility is also executing many industrial water projects like that of Tata BlueScope Steel Ltd, Tata Motors, Tata BP Solar, Tata Steel, among others at various locations in the country.
