Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate III: Harbinger of change

Aamir Khan who is back with the third season of his show Satyamev Jayate is excited about the two new elements incorporated in the show.

Aamir Khan who is back with the third season of his show Satyamev Jayate is excited about the two new elements incorporated in the show. ?In the previous seasons, I was doing all the talking, but in the new season there will be a live interaction where people could discuss their views, experiences or any issues for one hour, after the show ends. This could be on phone, twitter, Facebook,? said Khan, adding that though he would be travelling to different parts of India like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat, he would at the same time remain connected with the entire country.

The new season will also have Bollywood celebrities discussing certain issues. Though names like Deepika Padukone, Kangana Ranaut and Parineeti Chopra have been floating around, Khan refuses to divulge the names.

?Yes, some top stars are there on the show. They are on board, not because they are stars but are part of the show because they have something to do with the issue. We will not disclose who they are, because we are not using their names for publicity.?

Since the show deals with issues plaguing the country and the changes that are necessary, Khan, when asked if the previous two seasons induced any change, mentioned how the female ratio of girls when compared to boys was 890/1000 because of female infanticide in Maharashtra, but after the show, it had moved to 940 after the last season of the show in March 2014.

?That?s a big thing because it means in these two years, lakhs of little girls have been saved. Also Madhya Pradesh has opened several shops selling generic medicines, and some medicines are distributed free. All this was possible because of people like government officials, the administration, NGOs etc. who are working at the ground level. I too thought, like many of us, that things will not change in India, but things like these have made me believe that change is possible. There were many other heartwarming stories as well which people came forward and told us. The journey has been very encouraging, and I have learnt a lot. I am happy our team is back and moving forward to our new season.?

While, in the earlier seasons too, Khan had not disclosed the issues to be tackled, for the new season, he only revealed that they were very important and interesting and would be presented in a new ?andaaz?. The actor, however, did mention that people connect to the shows website and write about the issues that could be addressed, and keeping that and their own observations in mind, relevant issues were selected as topics for the next show.

Interestingly, the change has not only been visible around, but the actor emphasised that he himself has also changed ever since the show started. ?The harsh truths around me affected me deeply, and I have become more mature, patient and less judgmental. At times there was anger and helplessness, and emotionally felt I am ?injured? because of some shocking truths which would be too gruesome to show on television or even talk about,? said an emotionally charged Khan. When asked what are the issues that are foremost on his mind which he would like to tackle, the actor replied, ?Healthcare, education, security and quick justice.?

Satyamevey Jayate takes off on Sunday September 21, 11 am and will have six episodes in all this season.
