Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) is set to herald the new year with a five-city road show in key cities of India.
The road show is part of Dubai's strategy to build inbound tourism from a market which has now become the second highest in terms of hotel occupancy in UAE.
Between January and November this year, over 1.25 lakh Indian guests stayed in Abu Dhabi's hotels and hotel apartments ¿ a 30 per cent increase on the first 11 months of last year.
The authority, together with its trade partner Lama Tours, will lead a 12-member industry delegation to India.
It will display facilities in the hotels and airline sectors during the five-day whistle-stop promotion that will take them to New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai from 7-11 January, a statement released by UAE's official news agency Wam said.
"This is the first time we have included Ahmedabad to leverage the recent launch by Etihad Airways of a daily flight from this Gujarat city to Abu Dhabi," Mubarak Al Nuaimi, International Promotions Manager, TCA Abu Dhabi, said.
"Improving air access is key to the Indian market and now with Abu Dhabi receiving 124 flights a week from the country, we have capacity to leverage.
"We also have major events which will appeal to the Indian market, most notably January's Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and February's Gourmet Abu Dhabi culinary festival," Al Nuaimi said.
