Malaysia Airlines MH17 was struck by a missile that caused the death of over 200 people and, but for intervention of providence, it may well have been an Air India jet.
According to some reports, there were two other aircraft flying in the area 15 miles away at the time. They were Singapore Airlines and an Air India plane.
Several airlines, including Air India, Jet Airways Lufthansa and Air France, say they will now avoid eastern Ukrainian airspace.
Data from airline tracker Flightradar24 shows other commercial flights in the area at the time of the crash including a Singapore Airlines flight and an Air India flight, according to the data.
