AirAsia has appointed Amit Singh as the director of flight operations and Ganpathy Sampath as head of engineering for its proposed venture AirAsia India.

AirAsia has appointed Amit Singh as the director of flight operations and Ganpathy Sampath as head of engineering for its proposed venture AirAsia India. Amit has about 20 years of airline experience, with the last seven years dedicated to developing and managing budget airlines. He has more than 11,000 flying hours on the Boeing B777 and Airbus A320 and has flown with Air India, IndiGo and Scoot. Some of his key achievements have been in the field of flight operations, training and flight safety. Amit was actively involved in the launch of IndiGo in 2006 and elevated to the position of chief pilot, training, soon after. Ganpathy Sampath has over 30 years of aviation experience and he has served at HAL, Jet Airways, Honeywell Aerospace and Go Airlines, where his career progressed from engineer to general manager. He is an engineering graduate with a BE in Electronics & Communication from UVCE, Bangalore and M Tech (Aero) from IIT-Madras. He owns a DGCA license and has worked on various types of commercial, business, general aviation, helicopters and military aircraft. Seven3Sports acquires mobile rights to US Open

Indian Sports Media company Seven3Sports has entered into an agreement with Ten Sports, the official broadcaster of the US Open for the mobile rights licence of the grand slam. “We are very excited to partner with Ten Sports to extend the premier tennis action from US through the mobile devices in India and bring people closer to the prestigious US Open On the move,” Seven3Sports founder and CEO Jatin Ahluwalia said. The US Open started on August 26 and will be played till September 9.

Indo-American women to honour Indra Nooyi

PepsiCo?s chairperson and CEO Indra Nooyi, who is of Indian origin, would be honoured by a charitable body, run by a group of Indian-American women professionals in Manhattan, in October. A statement from the US-based NGO, Children’s Hope India (CHI), said Nooyi would be felicitated with the Special Impact Award at their annual gala to be held at Pier Sixty in Manhattan on October 13.

SPML Infra bags orders worth R1,802 crore

Infrastructure development firm SPML Infra said it has won new orders worth R1,802 crore from Bihar and Rajasthan for various works, including rural electrification and water supply. “SPML Infra has won new orders worth R1,802.10 crore from South Bihar Power Distribution (SBPDCL) of Bihar and Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) of Rajasthan,” the company said in a statement. The two orders received from SBPDCL are for rural electrification projects in Patna and Gaya districts under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana, SPML Infra said. The three orders bagged from Public Health Engineering Department of Kota, Ajmer and Bharatpur, for water supply schemes will benefit more than

445 villages in Jhalawar, Ajmer and Bharatpur districts.

JLR to unify Jaguar, Land Rover marketing brass

Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover has announced a rejig in its management executive committee, creating a unified marketing and sales leadership structure for the Jaguar and Land Rover brands. “This reorganisation represents a natural evolution of our management team, designed to sharpen our relentless focus on customer first,” JLR CEO Ralf Speth said in a statement. He further said: “It is the next phase in our development, mirroring the recent changes we made to product creation and delivery, and bringing together the strategy and processes supporting the brands.”
