Singham Returns featuring Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor released yesterday to packed houses. While the film has been faring well at the box-office, we decided to take a comparative view of the film.
In this Box-Office analysis, we compare the Opening Day collections of Singham Returns to its prequel, the 2011 film Singham as well as to the previous releases of Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor and Rohit Shetty. Interestingly, Singham Returns has clocked a much better opening collecting Rs. 32.09 crores as compared to Singham that recorded just Rs. 8.94 crores.
Simultaneously, Singham Returns becomes Ajay Devgn’s Highest Opening Day Grosser outbeating his previous releases like Himmatwala that collected Rs. 12.1 crore, Bol Bachchan that collected Rs. 12.10 crores and Satyagraha that managed Rs. 11.21 crores.
Similarly the film becomes Kareena Kapoor’s highest grosser too overtaking her previous releases like Bodyguard that collected Rs. 21.60 crores, Ra.One that collected Rs. 18.50 crores and Satyagraha that managed Rs. 11.21 crores.
However, Singham Returns shies away from becoming Rohit Shetty’s highest opening day grosser narrowly missing the mark that continues to be held by Chennai Express that collected Rs. 33.12 crores.
