Ajay Devgn-starrer Singham Returns’ business has remained steady ? unaffected by Rani Mukerji’s ‘Mardaani’ ? with box office collections consolidating to Rs 130.48 crore in the domestic market.
‘Singham Returns’ also continues to do well in the overseas markets like USA/Canada and UAE/GCC, with collections touching more than Rs 15 crore as per latest available data.
The film had the biggest opening day of 2014, beating Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’ with Rs 32.09 crore.
Devgn’s latest also had strong opening weekend, taking its first weekend total to nett to Rs 77.69 crore, fourth highest ever after ‘Chennai Express’, ‘Dhoom 3’ and ‘Kick’, which made Rs 107.61 crore, Rs 100.42 crore and Rs 83.83 crore respectively.
At the end of Week 1, ‘Singham Returns’ box collections had been Rs 112.59 crore with Rs 32.09 cr from Friday, Rs 21.05 crore on Saturday, Rs 24.55 crore on Sunday, Rs 14.78 crore on Monday, Rs 8.21 crore on Tuesday, Rs 6.44 crore on Wednesday and Rs 5.47 crore on Thursday.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, ‘Singham Returns’ has also been the 32nd film to reach the coveted box office collections figure of Rs 100 crore. Interestingly, ‘Singham Returns’, which is a sequel, managed to cross the lifetime business of ‘Singham’ (Released on July 22, 2011) in just five days.
