Almond prices rose by Rs 100 per 40 kg bag in the national capital today on account of fresh buying support from retailers and stockists due to festive demand.
Fall in in supplies from overseas markets also supported the rise in prices.
Almond (California) prices rose by Rs 100 to Rs 12,800 per 40 kg and its kernel also moved up to Rs 440-460 from previous close of Rs 435-455 per kg, respectively. Marketmen said apart from restricted supplies from overseas markets, increased demand from stockists and retailers due to the festive season also led to a rise in almond prices.
The following are today's quotations (per 40 kg): Almond (California) Rs 12,800 Almond (Gurbandi-new) Rs 7,000-7,800; Almond (Girdhi) Rs 3,200-3,400; Abjosh Afghani Rs 8,000-20,000.
Almond Kernel (California) Rs 440-460 per kg, Almond Kernel (Gurbandi-new) Rs 350-425 per kg.
