One held in cop murder case
NEW DELHI: One person has been arrested from Barpola village in connection with the murder of Delhi Police constable Tanvir Singh on Thursday in a land grabbing case, police said on Saturday. A country-made pistol with two magazines and 14 live cartridges were recovered from the possession of Mordhawaj alias Manju, who is a property dealer, they said.
Healthcare centres for elderly planned
NEW DELHI: Government plans to set up national institutes in Delhi and Chennai dedicated to research in medicines and healthcare for the elderly. “National Institutes of Ageing would be setup at AIIMS in Delhi, and at Madras Medical College in Chennai,” said Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. He was speaking at a function on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons.
IIT aspirant found dead in house
NEW DELHI: An 18-year-old IIT aspirant allegedly committed suicide on Saturday afternoon. The teenager, Uru Yogender, had come from Purnia in Bihar and was living in a rented flat in Yusuf Sarai, South Delhi, since two months. He was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the room, police said.
