Commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland has ruled out entering the sub 3-tonne light commercial vehicle category. The company, however, is planning to focus on defence offerings, said Ashok Leyland vice-chairman V Sumantran. The company has also entered into tie ups with global defence sector logistic players.
Speaking on the company’s plans, Sumantran said: ?Our strategy would be to leverage our capabilities like expanding product lines and integrating global weapon systems with mobility platforms.”
On the recent tie ups with global comjpanies, he said, ?Our tie up with SAAB of Sweden and Nexter of France will enhance our capabilities to enter into new segments. We have a brand new Super Stallion platform with the 10×10 HMV. A new Mine Protected Vehicle also joins this new fleet for Indian defence.?
