Apollo 11 legend Buzz Aldrin took a small leap into The Ambassador Lagoon at Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai. The scuba loving astronaut joined the Atlantis The Palm team to help launch their new diving programmes. The 84-year-old, spent some time exploring the ruins of the lost city of Atlantis and enjoyed performing some playful and impromptu anti-gravity antics to the Atlantis guests at the glass observation window.
Buzz was the second person to walk on the moon. He was the lunar module pilot on Apollo 11, the first manned lunar landing in history and set foot on the Moon on July 21, 1969, following mission commander Neil Armstrong. He is also a retired colonel in the United States Air Force (USAF) and a USAF command pilot / astronaut, and hero of many and these days loves spending time underwater.
The new diving programme gives a chance to guests to come face to face with sharks, rays and 65,000 fishes. The new diving activities include: Atlantis Dive Discovery for beginners; Atlantis Dive Explorer a 30-minute dive for certified divers; and the Royal Dive for those who want a VIP experience and the entire Ambassador Lagoon. For those who don’t have a diving licence, Atlantis also has snorkelling for anyone over the age of six.
