Czech car maker Skoda on Wednesday launched two redesigned models – Skoda Superb sedan and compact SUV Skoda Yeti – at the Auto Expo 2014.
Both models sport new designs, fresh interiors and enhanced technological features. While the Skoda Superb will be launched in the middle of first quarter, the Skoda Yeti will be available in the second half of 2014.
?India is an important market for Skoda and the Skoda Superb and Skoda Yeti offer that ‘bit more car’ at an affordable price in their segments,” said says Werner Eichhorn, member of the Skoda Board responsible for Sales and Marketing.
The?Skoda Superb?is the flagship of the Czech brand. The completely redesigned saloon features has new front and rear sections. The engines offered for the Superb in India will be a petrol 1.8 TSI-118 kW and diesel engine 2.0 TDI-103 kW.
The redesigned Skoda Yeti?features a newly-designed front and rear sections. The Yeti is based on the Yeti Outdoor version. There are two diesel engines available for the Indian Yeti: the 2.0 TDI/81 kW mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a 2.0 TDI/103 kW with a manual six-speed gearbox. The 2.0 TDI/81kW engine is available with front-wheel drive; the 2.0 TDI/103 kW comes with all-wheel drive fitted as standard.
The 15,593 Superbs have been sold since it was launched on the subcontinent in 2004. More than 4,576 Yetis have also been to Indian customers. Both models are manufactured at the Skoda India plant in Aurangabad, where the Octavia model is also produced. The new Octavia made its Indian debut in October 2013.
