Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd (SMIL) unveiled four new products at the Auto Expo 2014. These are three motorcycles (V Strom 1000, Inazuma and Gixxer) and one scooter (Let?s). The 155cc Gixxer is now Suzuki?s flagship model for the Indian market, and the 110cc scooter Let?s is an offering directed at the urban youth. While the scooter Let’s would be launched in April, Gixxer will hit Indian roads by July — the company, though, didn’t disclose prices for both these models. On the other hand, the V Strom 1000 ABS strengthens SMIL?s presence in the super premium big bike segment and is priced close to Rs 15 lakh, while the Inazuma is Suzuki’s new quarter-litre offering that comes for Rs 3 lakh. Atul Gupta, executive vice-president, SMIL, said, “Today we are proud to offer two-wheelers that cater to most price points.” He added that the company’s mass-segment offering Hayate is doing well in the country but where the bike can gain from in the near future is more touch-points. “Certainly, we need more distribution points and are working towards the same,” Gupta added. The company is also aiming to double its market share in the country and for that intends to increase its touch-points from the current 600 to 1,000.
