Auto Expo 2014: Triumph unveils Daytona 675, priced at Rs 10 lakh

Triumph Motorcycles India unveiled the Daytona 675 on the second day of the Auto Expo 2014.

Close on the heels of competitor Harley-Davidson launching a ‘small’ 750cc bike on the first day of the Auto Expo 2014, Triumph Motorcycles India unveiled the Daytona 675 on the second day; it is priced at Rs 10.15 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. ?The demand generated after the introduction of our international models in November and the customer feedback thus received has fuelled this launch,? said Vimal Sumbly, MD, Triumph Motorcycles India. Calling India an ?exceptionally exciting market?, Paul Stroud, director, Sales & Marketing (Global), Triumph Motorcycles, added, ?Despite the overall slowdown, the premium motorcycle segment in the country is seeing tremendous growth. Since we launched our products in November, over 100 sold orders have been taken by us, and now with the launch of the Daytona 675, this is an opportunity for us to grow further. We are looking at a target of 500 motorcycles in the first six months, 1,000 by year-end and 1,500 by mid-2015.?

The company will open seven stores over the next three months and announced the commencement of bookings in Delhi and Chennai from February 6. ?Our exclusive dealerships are currently operational in Bangalore and Hyderabad. Bookings have been announced for Mumbai and Pune dealerships, which will start by March. But bookings for Delhi and Chennai will start from today and the dealerships will be operational very soon. Over the next few months there will be many more dealerships that will open up across the country,? Sumbly said.

The Daytona 675 is powered by a three-cylinder, 675cc engine, and generates close to 130 bhp of power. Now, the company has 11 motorcycles on sale in India.
