Come June 30 and the road travelled by the icons of Mughal history is all set to become the backdrop for the clash of the titans within the automobile industry of the country?Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra and Tata Motors.
The battleground is the motorsport arena, and the track used by the legendary Mughal emperors through the Pir Panjal range of the Western Himalayas in Jammu & Kashmir will now witness these automobile giants locked in battle for the top spot. The race for victory will unfold over June 30 and July 1 this year at the J&K Bank Mughal Rally.
The J&K government is enthusiastic about hosting the event because the Mughal Rally will showcase the untapped potential for adventure tourism in the state. The event promises to give tourists a whole new ?high?, taking them beyond the Sonamarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam route to a different, offbeat circuit, exploring untouched areas like the Sinthan Pass, Pir Ki Gali, Bafliaz and the picturesque medieval Mughalsarai at Aliabag.
Teams Tata, Mahindra and Maruti have earlier fought it out in the Raid De Himalaya and the Desert Storm too, but the stakes were not as high. The Mughal Rally has two categories?Xtreme and Enduro. The Xtreme is about outright speed, while the Enduro follows the TSD (Time-Speed-Distance) format.
The Mughal Rally is organised by the Shimla-based motorsport club, Himalayan Motorsport, whose flagship event is the Raid De Himalaya. The moguls of the automobile sector in India are now waiting to see who races to the top spot in the Mughal Rally.
