A day after a Delhi court asked the police to file an action taken report on a plea seeking lodging of an FIR against RSS head Mohan Bhagwat, VHP leader Praveen Togadia and Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan for their alleged hate speeches, the SP politician demanded an apology from the Sangh chief for his Hindu rashtra remark.
Speaking at the India Islamic Cultural Centre on Sunday, Khan said, If Bhagwat saheb has made a map of Hindu rashtra, it should be brought out and discussed.
Later he said, Bhagwat saheb apologise to the entire country, to 125 crore Hindustanis otherwise people will not believe in pure relations... At the time of Independence, we were told that we will have a sovereign state. If that sovereign status changes and 31 per cent of the country wants to change it to a Hindu rashtra then talks should be held with us. BJP secured 31 per cent votes in the Lok Sabha polls .
Countering Bhagwats comment, he questioned, Those who stay in America are Americans, but those who stay in India are not Indians but Hindus?
On the controversy surrounding his alleged role in the Muzaffarnagar riots, Khan made an emotional pitch saying, I have been accused of flaming the Muzaffarnagar riots. I have received seven notices from the Supreme Court. You cannot imagine what I have suffered.
Bringing up the establishment of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, he said, I was asked if I wanted to construct a madarsa. I told the official that I wanted to establish a university to which he replied I know you want to make a second Pakistan here.
