The D N Nagar police investigating the murder of Bidushi Dash, a former Miss Chennai and south Indian actress who was found dead in her Andheri West apartment on Monday night, are basing their initial inquiry on her mobile phone records. Officers said three to four phone numbers from which calls were made to Bidushi prior to her death are being probed. These numbers have shown up as repeated missed calls on Bidushi’s phone.
Although the police are still grappling for leads, they have begun scanning the contacts list on Bidushi’s phone, as well as scrutinising her call records.
“Bidushi had not taken a single call on her mobile phone or even dialled any number since morning that day,” added the officer.
According to police officers, a team visited Bidushi’s rented apartment at Manish Garden building to reconstruct the scene of her murder. “We are investigating all possible angles,” said Vijay Bhoite, senior inspector.
“We have requested for the CCTV recordings of the bank which is opposite the building, which could throw some light on the mysterious visitor who came to visit Bidushi at 9.15 am on the day of her murder,” said an officer from the police station.
“The building watchman said at 2.14 pm that day, a person whose name is not clear on the register, visited her. This person, and someone who visited her at 9.15 am, are the main suspects,” police said.
The police are finding out who first visitor was. He was only noticed by the domestic help of a doctor who stays on the first floor of the same building.
Meanwhile, the police handed over Bidushi’s body to her parents on Wednesday morning, following which she was cremated. A warrant officer with the Indian Air Force, Bidushi’s father Shantanu Dashsaid, “I know that the police will find my daughter's killer.”
