The first global bitcoin conference in India will kick off this weekend in Bangalore. The conference will see participation of investors, speakers, entrepreneurs, bitcoin exchange builders and payment processors among others.
?The goal of the conference is to provide an overview of where the virtual currency industry stands today and its future potential ? with emphasis on India?s role and future opportunities,? Bitcoin India said in a blog post. There will be panel discussions by bitcoin experts on Sunday, while, on Saturday, there will be a general meet.
Bitcoins are decontrolled currency traded on virtual markets. It is created by ?mining? through software when computers solve complex mathematical problems and, hence, the supply is limited. There are an estimated 2,000 bitcoin users in India. But there is no concrete information as to how many bitcoins are held or traded by Indians. One person can create and download more than one bitcoin.
