SummaryThe BJP activists have targeted the Congress leadership by way of a hoarding at the busy Subhash Chauraha.

Taking a leaf out of Congress workers’ book, the BJP activists have targeted the Congress leadership by way of a hoarding at the busy Subhash Chauraha in the Civil Lines area of the city Wednesday.

While mentioning that Narendra Modi (BJP’s prime ministerial candidate) and the BJP were the only option to save the country, the hoarding reads: “Sonia hai beemar; Rahul hai bekaar; Robert Vadhera kar raha hai bhrashtachar; Priyanka Gandhi hai hissedar; desh hai inke karnaamon se pareshan (Sonia is ill; Rahul is worthless: Robert Vadhera is indulging in corruption; Priyanka Gandhi is partner in that; the country is fed up with their actions).”

The hoarding, put up Wednesday afternoon by Ganesh Kesarwani, BJP municipal corporator from Krishna Nagar ward in Kydganj, was partially torn up by unidentified persons in the night.

Kesarwani told The Indian Express: “None of what we have said is far from truth. Congress leaders like Jairam Ramesh and P Chidambaram have been saying this in different ways that Rahul was not proving to be useful. People were requested to stay on in his rallies. He has himself said his mother is ill."

On targeting Vadhera and Priyanka, even as they are not in active politics, Kesarwani said: “There is no doubt that Vadhera’s name in corruption scandals have cropped up. When a husband does something good or bad, its impact is felt on the wife as well. If I earn Rs 10 crore in an illegal manner, do you think my wife would not know?”

City Congress chief Abhay Awasthi said: “We have put up such posters earlier. But the language was tempered. Unko maryadit bhasha istemaal karnee chahiye (they should have used dignified language).

BJP’s city chief Shashi Varshneya said: “Party was not directly involved. But we support the contents of what has been written. Everything that has been written is already in the public domain.”
