The BJP is leaving no stone unturned to ensure people’s participation at the rally of Gujarat Chief Minister and the party’s prime ministerial candiate Narendra Modi at Bandra-Kurla Complex on December 22.
It has given a toll-free number through with individuals can register their names for the rally and the state BJP president Devendra Fadnavis calls them back with information about the rally.
As of Wednesday, the party had booked 24 long distance trains and around 40,000 buses and other vehicles for mobilising the people from across Maharashtra.
The entire party machinery has been asked to focus on rally preparations. They have already ordered 10 lakh food packets for those who will stay at the open spaces across BKC and Shivaji Park.
The party leadership has divided the work region-wise. Maximum stress is being given to Marathawada, the stronghold of Gopinath Munde. Fadnavis, who hails from Vidarbha, is in charge of that region. In Mumbai, Vinod Tawde and Ashish Shelar are holding fort. Fadnavis said, “We are not worried about the numbers, but crowd management is crucial. We will have four people from each booth in the state at the rally. The total number of booths is 80,000. This means that 3.2 lakh people will come from Maharashtra.”
The party is also estimating the number of people from Mumbai who will attend the rally. The rally will set the stage for the BJP’s campaign for 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Fadnavis said, “The Mumbai unit of the party is working round-the-clock on the plans, which include coordinating with traffic authorities.”
