Breast cancer awareness programme
Sadhu Vaswani Institute of Management, in association with Rotary Club of Pune Central, has organised a breast cancer awareness programme from 1.45 pm-5 pm Friday. Spot registration is required, a press note said. “Women over the age of 35 and those with family history of breast cancer can benefit from attending the programme. Participants can also avail themselves of subsidised cancer screening treatment,” it said.
Deoyani Hospital inaugurated
Deoyani Multi Speciality Hospital, founded by Dr Deoyani Limaye and Sunil Ganu, was inaugurated by Dr K H Sancheti Thursday. Dr Shrirang Limaye, CEO of the hospital and Dr Swapna Limaye, head of gynaecology department, were also present. The multi-speciality hospital is the first tertiary care hospital in the western part of the city, said a press release. Equipped with facilities such as cath Lab, digital X-Ray, ECG, colour doppler, 2D echo, C.T. Scan, the hospital also provides plastic surgery, neuro surgery, joint replacement and spine surgery, said the release.

Starbucks comes to city, to open outlet on Sunday
Tata Starbucks, the joint venture between Starbucks Coffee and Tata Global Beverages, will inaugurate its first outlet in Pune Sunday. The store is located off North Main Road in Koregaon Park and would be operational from 7 am-11 pm, said a press release. Tata Starbucks CEO Avani Davda said, “We remain committed to the India market and will continue to work thoughtfully to open stores in locations where more customers can enjoy their coffee.” The store will serve espresso, sourced and roasted in India and will offer specially designed food offerings to appeal to customers in Pune, said the release. Starbucks entered the Indian market in October last year.
Settlement commissioner Dalvi bags Skoch award
Settlement commissioner Chandrakant Dalvi bagged the Skoch award for best practices in smart governance. He won the award for e-survey in the district. It was conferred upon him by UIDAI chairman Nandan Nilekani on September 3. The settlement commissioner had introduced the e-survey programme from January 2012. The purpose was to cut down long queues
