Sangrur tops in wheat production
Sangrur: Sangrur district has topped the country for the second consecutive year in wheat production with a per hectare yield of 5,170 kg, the district deputy commissioner informed officilas of the National Food Security Mission who were here to monitor the progress of NFS mission. He attributed Sangrur’s success to the untiring efforts of the chief agriculture officer and his team.
DD to telecast Badal speech at 8.30 am
CHANDIGARH: Doordarshan Kendra, Jalandhar, Chandigarh and DD Punjabi will telecast Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s Independence Day speech at 8.30 am on Thursday while the All India Radio’s Jalandhar, Patiala and Bathinda stations would broadcast the chief minister’s message at 9.10 am.

State to recruit 1,000 teachers
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Teachers Recruitment Board (TRBP) has begun the process for recruitment of around 1,000 teachers for 21 model schools, 6 adarsh schools and 264 upgraded middle to high schools under the Rashtriya Madhmik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA).

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government has issued posting and transfer orders for four IAS officers. Anirudh Tewari has been posted as secretary (power) and as secretary (non-conventional Energy) and as secretary (vigilance) and in addition secretary (personnel) while Seema Jain will now serve as secretary (science, technology and environment); Sarvjit Singh has been posted as secretary (revenue) and as secretary (home); D K Tiwari has been posted as the managing director of Infotech.
UK diplomat meets Himachal CM
