Sharing the views of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that Gujarat chief Minister Narendra Modi as Prime Minister would be disastrous for the country, CPM Politburo member Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Friday alleged that the RSS and corporate houses were paving the way for him.
“We are seeing a monster named Narendra Modi coming forward. It’s really unprecedented in India that the RSS and all big corporate houses have joined hands to make way for Modi,” Bhattacharjee said while attending a programme here.
“Modi is not only a danger for a particular community, but for the entire country. It would be a disaster if becomes the Prime Minister,” he said, nearly quoting the prime minister.
Alleging a covert alliance between the ruling Trinamool Congress and BJP, he said, “In our state, we have clearly stated that in any situation we won’t side with the BJP or the RSS. But the Trinamool Congress is not speaking a word on them. They are yet to make their stand clear. This is called opportunistic politics.”
Attacking the ruling party in Bengal, Bhattacharjee alleged that the TMC was a violent party.
“The Trinamool is the most violent party West Bengal has ever seen. The violence against women is increasing every day. But the state government has delivered the matter into the hands of goons so that they can
have a free run,” said Bhattacharjee.
Lashing out at TMC for criticising politics with a dead body of a teen aged girl who died after being gangraped twice and being allegedly set alight, Bhattacharjee asked, “What politics did we do?
“It was the duty of the government and police to protect the girl, but they didn’t. If we had not stood by the family then they would have been sent to Bihar.”
