IIM Calcutta wins KPMG Competition finals 2014

The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) was announced the winner of KPMG International Case Competition (KICC) national finals, which is the world?s largest business case study competition. KICC witnessed 10 prominent B-school teams battle it out for the coveted trophy. There was a price money of Rs 20,000 for each member of the winning and they also stand a chance to compete for the global finale in Sao Paulo, Brazil. XLRI-Xavier School of Management hosted XLerate 2014 sports festival for one-year MBA students from premier B-schools across India on March 1-2 at its campus in Jamshedpur. Amity University to soon open a campus in Dubai

Amity University recently broke ground for its new state-of-the-art campus at Dubai International Academic City (DIAC). The new campus, which will open next year, will accommodate 5,000 students and will be the largest private university campus spanning 700,000 sq ft space in DIAC. Honorary degree for BVR Mohan Reddy of Infotech

Prof GSN Raju, vice-chancellor, Andhra University, recently conferred the honorary degree Doctor of Science upon the CMD of Infotech Enterprises, BVR Mohan Reddy, who received the degree at the convocation, where he was chief guest and delivered the address on ?Improving Our World Through Technology?. He also shared his views on how technology will change the world, its convergence, and trends like mobility, ?Internet of Things? and 3D printing.

Recognising sports as an industry key: CII-KPMG

KPMG under the aegis of CII has released a report titled ?Business of Sports?Shaping a Successful Innings for the Indian Sports Industry?. It identifies key issues in the sports ecosystem and explores measures to develop a private-investment led sporting scenario. The reports states that resource scarcity in India makes it difficult for the government to attain the above objectives and calls for collaborative efforts of both the government and private sector towards strengthening the sports ecosystem. Sustainability of commercial ventures in the Indian sports sector would require sustained audience interest driven by India?s winning performances at global sporting events. Sports sector is seen to have a major socio-economic impact worldwide contributing to 1-5% of national GDP.

Siemens scholarship for engineering students

Siemens India has rolled out its scholarship programme, and as part of the first batch of the programme, 20 meritorious students were provided scholarships covering tuition and stationary expenses for the first year of their graduation course. Training, projects and mentorship provided by Siemens would acquaint the students with the dynamics of the industry. In the first phase, Siemens reached out to all government engineering colleges of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa.
