The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday announced the Class XII results for the Delhi and Dehradun region.
In Delhi, a record number of students ? 2,90,433 ? secured more than 90 per cent marks, up from around 2,50,000 students last year. As many as 2,423 students got more than 95 per cent, a 60 per cent increase from last year.
While Sarthak Agrawal from DPS, Vasant Kunj, was declared the topper of the Science stream with 99.6 per cent marks, G Harishankaran from Air Force Bal Bharati School in Central Delhi topped the commerce stream in Delhi region with 99.2 per cent marks.
Government schools in the capital also put up an exemplary performance, with Surbhi Sharma, a student of Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Roop Nagar, North Delhi, topping the humanities stream with 96.4 per cent marks.
Kulwinder Singh from Rajkiya Pratibha Vidyalaya, Paschim Vihar, got 96.2 per cent and was declared the Science stream topper from Delhi government schools. Rishabh Chaudhary topped the Commerce stream with 97.4 per cent.
While 62 of 192 students at Amity International, Saket, got more than 90 per cent marks, over 50 per cent of 434 students studying in DPS, Vasant Kunj, cleared the exams with 90 per cent.
At DPS, RK Puram, 900 of the 1,005 students who sat for the Class XII exams secured more than 75 per cent marks.
?Coming out with flying colours in the board examinations has almost become a tradition for students at DPS, RK Puram. I am happy that students of my school have created records,? principal D R Saini said.
This year too girls fared much better than boys in the exam countrywide. The pass percentage for girls stood at 88.52 as compared to 78.27 for boys. The overall pass percentage stood at 82.66, slightly higher than last year?s 82.10 per cent.
