HP and Liqvid to deliver English & e-Learning solutions to rural India

Hewlett-Packard and Liqvid have signed an MoU to deliver Liqvid?s bilingual EnglishEdge software through the HP Lab-in-Box network. Liqvid, an eLearning solutions company, specialises in the area of English language training. Liqvid will promote the cloud-based HP LIFE e-learning programme across its customer base that will help students learn IT & business skills. As part of its Vision 2020 plan, the government is looking to increase the gross enrolment ratio in schools to 30% by 2020. Innovative technology will play a vital role in enabling this increase.

IIM Kozhikode to host conference on China studies in December

Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, will host the 6th All India Conference of China Studies in collaboration with the Institute of Chinese Studies, New Delhi, from December 12-14. The theme of the same is reforms, management and social transformation. It seeks to cover the economic reforms in China in the post-Mao era (after 1978) and its multifaceted impact on the Chinese society.

XLRI opens admission to the agri-business mgmt programme

India?s economic progress continues to be predicated to an extent by growth in the agriculture sector, which supports more than 50% of the population and employs 52% of the workforce. With the stated objective to supplement agriculture knowledge with skills to enhance business effectiveness, XLRI has joined hands with iKisan, an agri portal promoted by the Nagarjuna Group, to offer the Certificate Programme in Agri-Business Management. This six-month, online programme is designed for both practising executives and fresh graduates.

Global talent management consulting firm Development Dimensions International (DDI) has announced the appointment of Andrew Warren-Smith as managing director, India. Pearson, Village Capital to fund education entrepreneurs in India

Pearson has announced a partnership with funding firm Village Capital to support and invest in education entrepreneurs in India who are serving some of the world?s less privileged students. Winners of up to $75,000 funding will be selected through peer review by fellow entrepreneurs. Pearson Affordable Learning Fund will work with Village Capital to offer entrepreneurs the chance to receive seed investment. Up to 16 start-up firms will participate in workshops this autumn.
