Prime Minister Manmohan Singh-headed Cabinet Committee on Investment has approved Rs 7,947 crore worth projects, including ONGC’s Assam oil field revival plan and an LNG import terminal in Gujarat.

“The CCI on December 9 approved five delayed projects involving an investment of Rs 7,947 crore,” oil minister M Veerappa Moily said.

The projects approved included Rs 2,379 crore Assam oilfield renewal project of Oil and Natural Gas (ONGC) which was pending for want of environmental clearance.

The Assam renewal project seeks to upgrade the existing infrastructure to improve production.

“The project involves revamping and optimization of 21 surface installation for 9 integrated complex, replacement of existing pipelines and laying of new 468 km pipeline,” he said. PTI
