Andre Schuerrle's hat trick sent Chelsea F.C. provisionally four points clear at the top of the Premier League with a 3-1 victory at Fulham, making the most of Arsenal F.C. losing at Stoke on Saturday.
Chelsea F.C. took until the second half to trouble Fulham, but Schuerrle then ripped through the defense with ease at Craven Cottage.
Having not won on seven previous visits to Stoke, Arsenal F.C. came unstuck again as Jonathan Walters clinched a 1-0 victory from the penalty spot.
Although Newcastle beat Hull 4-1 it was a touchline altercation by manager Alan Pardew that overshadowed the impressive win. Pardew was sent off in the 72nd after appearing to head-butt Hull midfielder David Meyler.
Everton returned to sixth by beating West Ham 1-0, while Liverpool F.C. was at Southampton in the late game.
