Battlelines were drawn in the Congress Tuesday with several young leaders ? considered close to Rahul Gandhi ? coming together and deciding to raise their voice against the ?public attack? on the Congress vice-president by a section of the senior leadership.
They feel there is an orchestrated attempt by a section of the old guard to stymie Rahul?s organisational reform process after the crushing electoral defeat.
The young guns have been upset with the public criticism of the Congress president Sonia Gandhi by some leaders and silence of seniors when Congress vice-president comes under attack from within and outside. Sources said several AICC secretaries and some former MPs met Tuesday night and decided to make a ?move? and tell the seniors to put an end to the blame game.
It is learnt that the group would write to general secretaries and fellow secretaries urging them to air their views within the party forum, end the blame game and focus their energies on charting out the party?s revival.
The young leaders, sources said, were of the view that the statements by some of the leaders criticising Rahul had only damaged the party.
?The A K Antony committee, which was set up to find out the reasons for the defeat, gave everyone a chance to give their views. Hundreds of leaders met the committee and conveyed to it what they felt. The panel has submitted its report. Now what is the need for giving public statements,? a young leader told The Indian Express.
