A police sub inspector (SI) who was hailed as a “hero” for the recovery of Rs 1.14 crore cash allegedly stolen from Nawada BJP MP Giriraj Singh’s Patna flat was suspended Wednesday on graft charges.
SI Mohammed Salimuddin was suspended on charges of giving receipt of less amount than he took from an auto driver for not carrying documents of his vehicle. The SI allegedly pocketed Rs 1,000.
The SI, who had helped in arresting thief Dinesh in the Giriraj Singh cases said Wednesday that he was “stunned” at his suspension order. “I was not even issued a showcause notice,” said the SI. Patna traffic SP Rajiv Mishra said: “Our action against the SI was based on a complaint.”
