Back in 2004, while filing his nomination for the sole Nagaland seat, N Nyimthungo Lotha had declared in his affidavit that he had movable and immovable assets worth Rs 9,005 crore.
This included a 15-sq-km non-agricultural plot in Nagalands Wokha district worth Rs 9,000 crore at market value. If his claim about his wealth is true, then he would be among the richest politicians in the world. He is not contesting this time, but there are several candidates who, if not as rich as Lotha, are in the Rs 100-crore-and-above club

Declared assets worth: Rs 7,710 crore
The best known among the Rs 100-crore-plus club, Nilekani, former chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India and the Congress candidate from Bangalore South for the Lok Sabha polls, has declared assets worth Rs 7,710 crore in his affidavit, making him, by far, the richest candidate in this election. The Infosys co-founder has almost 80% of his wealth listed as Infosys shares, with 1.45% of the companys shares owned by him and 1.3% by his wife.

The JD(U) candidate contesting from Jehanabad, Bihar, has assets worth Rs 850 crore. He is the chairman-cum-managing director of the Amrapali Group of Companies, which is big in real estate and has Mahendra Singh Dhoni as its brand ambassador. Most of the investments made by Sharma, who resides in Delhi where he is listed as a voter, are in his own group of companies. He has residences in New Delhi, Greater Noida, Goa and Patna. He has shown his annual income as R10.36 crore in the income tax returns filed for 2012-13.

Contesting from the Chevella Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana, he has declared assets of R528 crore. Reddy is the son-in-law of Apollo Hospitals founder Prathap C Reddy. His wife Sangita Reddy, a director in the Apollo Hospitals group, has assets worth R243.27 crore.
