Tata Motors announced the appointment of a new interim leadership team headed by Cyrus Mistry.

To fill the leadership void left by the sudden demise of its managing director Karl Slym, Tata Motors on Thursday announced the appointment of a new interim leadership team headed by Tata Sons? chairman Cyrus Mistry. Mistry will also chair New Product Design and Engineering Review meetings.

?As an interim measure, consequent upon the sudden demise of the company?s managing director, Karl Slym, a corporate steering committee (CSC) will provide oversight of strategy and key aspects of the company?s operations,? a company statement said.

Mistry will chair the CSC, which comprises all the current members of the company?s executive committee such as commercial vehicle business head Ravindra Pisharody, and passenger vehicles arm head Ranjit Yadav, besides Satish B Borwankar, C Ramakrishnan, T A Leverton, Mamillapalle Venkatram, Ankush Arora and Rajesh Bagga.

?To ensure leadership continuity, the board of Tata Motors has constituted a CSC to oversee strategy execution and key aspects of operations. The Board expects to appoint a managing director in due course,? Mistry said.

He added, ?As communicated to all Tata Motors employees by me on January 30, during the condolence meeting held in the memory of Karl, we will ensure that the company vigorously pursues and delivers on the strategy which had already been defined and which Karl was executing.?

Slym, an ex-General Motors official who was appointed as the MD of India?s largest automaker in October 2012 and was the architect of a business transformation strategy, passed away after a fall from a high floor in his hotel in Bangkok last month.
