The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought a reply from the Centre on a PIL which pleads that existing information dissemination mechanisms under the Patent Act and other intellectual property laws were contradictory and repugnant to the RTI Act.

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought a reply from the Centre on a PIL which pleads that existing information dissemination mechanisms under the Patent Act and other intellectual property laws were contradictory and repugnant to the RTI Act.

The plea seeks an order of the court directing the patent office to entertain all applications for access to information as per the provisions of the RTI Act and not as per the Patent Act and rules. The PIL was filed by Shamnad Basheer, founder of the website SpicyIp.com.
