These interesting facts are part of the Facebook: 2013 Year in Review report released on Monday. The other surprise entries in the top ten are the Prasads IMAX in Hyderabad, Starbucks Coffee in Connaught Place and the PVR, MBD Neopolis in Jalandhar. The list thankfully has national treasures like Mumbai’s Marine Drive and Agra’s Taj Mahal.
The most talked about topics in India are no surprise, especially after yesterday. While Narendra Modi takes the top spot thanks to his virtual dominance of social media conversations in India, Sachin Tendulkar is second followed by iPhone 5s, Raghuram Rajan and Mangalyaan. In the international rankings, Pope Francis was on top, followed by ‘Elections’ and the Royal Baby. Nelson Mandela, who passed away last week, was ranked 10th in this list.
While most Facebook users added a relationship, got engaged or got married during the year, the other most added Timeline events of 2013 were traveled, moved, first met someone, had a baby and ended a relationship. Across the world too, adding relationships is the top event of timelines.
According to Facebook Data Editor Robert D'Onofrio, they looked at which life events and places generated the most posts and check-ins in 2013, and then used the data to create global and country-level rankings.
