The adaptation of Marathi blockbuster Sairat, Dhadak finally gets a release date! The film posters as well as the fresh pairing of Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter had kept us hooked as to when the film is set to release. But now Dhadak is all set to release on July 20 this year. Sairat was a rage in Maharashtra when it released and was both a critical as well as a box office hit. Karan Johar took to Twitter to announce the date and said, ” : “Six months to Dhadak #dhadak releasing 20th JULY 2018! Directed by @ShashankKhaitan and PRESENTING #Janhvi and #Ishaan @DharmaMovies @ZeeStudios_ @apoorvamehta18.” He also shared a poster of the film featuring both the debutants. Dhadak, which is inspired by Marathi blockbuster Sairat, is Janhvi and Ishaan’s Bollywood debut film. However, Ishaan has already starred in Iranian director Majid Majidi’s Beyond The Clouds.

Shashank Khaitan is the director of the film who had earlier helmed Alia Bhatt in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhani and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. He had earlier exclaimed Ishaan and Janhvi as are very hardworking. “Janhvi and Ishaan are great people and are very hardworking. These are the two things that I always look for in actors,” PTI reported. Sairat, the Marathi film on which the upcoming flick is based had won a National Award. The basic premise of caste difference and honour killing is the same just like its inspiration but he has definitely made some variations to the Hindi version. Karan Johar has acquired the remake rights of Nagraj Manjule-directed “Sairat”, which created history in the Marathi cinema by entering the elite Rs 100-crore club and became a phenomenon as it ran in cinema houses for over 100 days, especially in Maharashtra.
