The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) today apprised the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) that in compliance with the tribunal’s orders dated August 9, in the ongoing case pertaining to the selection of the next director of GMCH 32, Dr S K Singh’s application has been reconsidered and he will be called in for the selection committee meeting/ personal talk along with “other eligible candidates”.
So far, no date has been fixed for the personal talk/ interview for the candidates after the stay on the same by the tribunal in the past.
However, the counsel for the applicants, H S Sethi argued that there are no other eligible candidates according to the advertisement issued by the UT Administration to fill the post.
The case will now come up for resumed hearing on October 11 - both the UT Administration and the UPSC are yet to file their reply in this regard, and the Union of India which was also one of the respondents in the applications, has refused to file any reply in the matter.
During the resumed hearing of the two applications filed in the case pertaining to the selection of the next director of the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, the counsel of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) today placed on record the letter wherein the commission apprised the bench that Dr S K Singh’s application for the coveted post has been reconsidered in the light of the orders passed by the CAT on August 9.
The letter read that Dr S K Singh’s eligibility has been reconsidered by the commission and it has been decided to call him for the Selection Committee Meeting/ Personal Talk on the date as may be fixed by the commission along with other eligible candidates in terms of the orders of the CAT passed on August 13.
Earlier, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) had adjourned the hearing in the case pertaining to the petition filed by five faculty members of GMCH-32, seeking a level playing field for the contest for selection of the next director-Principal.
The application of Dr S K Singh, the sole eligible candidate for the said post, was also clubbed with this petition.
