Economic slump makes students flexible on job preference: Aspiring Minds survey

The weak global economic climate continues to put downward pressure on the job market.

The weak global economic climate continues to put downward pressure on the job market in terms of employment creation and quality of jobs. Aspiring Minds conducted a pan-India ?Job seeker survey 2013-14? to ascertain employability situation in India in the midst of slowdown. Responses were gathered from a sample of 3,500 students consisting of engineers, MBAs and degree course graduates. All students belonged to the batch of 2014.

?The industry has been experiencing the impact of slowdown for the last few quarters. Hiring has been low and the heat has thus passed on to students as well. However, we are hopeful that the scenario would see a change in the next two quarters as the industry sentiments are reviving on a positive note,? said Varun Aggarwal, co-founder and CTO, Aspiring Minds. The survey indicated that the dearth of jobs associated with economic crisis has made students flexible in their job demands. They are now looking for jobs in ?new? sectors and occupations as well.
