The company, which operates nine centres in US, has hired these veterans in two of its centres in Killeen, Texas and Sierra Vista, Arizona, which are adjacent to US military bases.

As part of Aegis’ diversity and inclusivity framework, the Mumbai-based firm currently employs over 1.76% of the total global workforce as Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).?Aegis has hired 202 veterans (12% of all hires), 36 different abled veterans (2%) and 299 military spouses (18%). ?Of the 183 hires at the company?s Sierra Vista Center, eight were veterans (3%), 27 were different-abled veterans (11%), and 25 were military spouses (10%), the company said.

?We enjoy a long and proud tradition of hiring military veterans and their families. Our experience is that military veterans and their families are a well-rounded, tech-savvy, and well-travelled work force with a strong desire to serve. Their work ethic is an inspiration to our global team,” said Sandip Sen, global CEO of Aegis.

Aegis, which was founded in US 30 years ago, was also one of the founding members of the jobs4America coalition that has pledged to create thousands of jobs in its US centres.

Earlier in 2011, IT services major Wipro had hired Iraqi war veterans and was awarded a patriot?s award by the governor of Georgia.?
