A family on Thursday alleged that their newborn boy was swapped with a baby girl in Civil Hospital on September 30.
The complainant, Sandeep Kumar, staged a protest outside the Civil Hospital on Thursday and also submitted a formal complaint to Police Commissioner P S Gill.
As per Sandeep, his wife Sushila gave birth to a baby boy on September 30 and he and his friend’s wife Rinku saw the baby. Then suddenly the doctor concerned sent him to bring medicines and Rinku was pushed out of the delivery room and the baby was taken back. He alleged that the slip issued by the doctor with names of medicines also had ‘male baby’ written on it but when he returned, a baby girl was handed over to him.
The complainant demanded a DNA test on the baby girl.
When contacted, Raj Kumar Karkara, senior medical officer, said, “A three-member board has been formed to look into the matter and check how ‘male baby’ was written on the slip issued.”
ACP (Central) Ramnish Chaudhary said, “We will be conducting a DNA test to clarify the matter.”
