Actress Priya Prakash Varrier has become an overnight internet sensation after she got millions followers on Instagram soon after a teaser song of her debut film ‘Oru Adaar Love’ went viral. The upcoming movie, written and directed by Omar Lulu, tells the story of plus two (12th) students and has newcomers in the cast. The film is slated to be released later this year.

What is the complaint against the song from Oru Adaar Love?

The complainants have alleged that the song “Manikya Malaraya poovi” in the film written and directed by Omar Lulu had an “objectionable” reference to Prophet Muhammad’s wife. The complaint was filed at the Falaknuma police station here by businessman Zaheer Ali Khan, engineering student Muqeeth Khan and others. According to Zaheer Khan, “The song’s lyrics hurt the sentiments of Muslims.” He demanded that either the song be removed from the film or its words be changed.

Before the complaint was filed, a clip from the song, featuring actor Priya Prakash Varrier, had gone viral on social media sites. The complainants, however, said they had not mentioned the actor’s name in their representation before the police.

Reportedly, as part of their investigation, the police will take the opinion of some Islamic clerics on this after getting a translation of the song.
