FI campaign to be lunched on February 10

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on February 10 will unveil a nationwide advertisement campaign for financial inclusion plan in New Delhi. Prime minister Manmohan Singh, and finance minister Pranab Mukherjee will also attend the event.

The idea of the new campaign on FI which for the first time will be launched with a logo on business correspondent ??is to create awareness about the programme, aiming ?at covering 73,000 villages having a population of 2,000 or more.?

Speaking to FE, KV Eapen, joint secretary, ministry of finance said that in the first phase, the government seeks to enlarge banking services into the selected by March, 2012. ??The Swabhiman campaign is meant for not only to creat an awareness among the nearly 4 crore beneficiaries, but also looks at ?spreading financial literacy??.

The nationwide launch will be followed by a series of campaign in various media by the Indian Banks? Association (IBA).
