The former managing director of SAP Labs India, Anirban Dey, whose resignation was announced on June 19, had allegedly sent anonymous e-mails to senior officials within the company raising certain human resources (HR)-related issues, police officials in Bangalore have said.
Dey?s identity was revealed on a police investigation following a complaint by SAP Labs India on May 30, upon receiving spam mails from an anonymous person between December 2013 and April this year.
The e-mails alleged that SAP Labs had not properly addressed an HR grievance within the company which included an assault within the premises.
According to the police, the e-mails sent under the name ?slicitizen101′? to the SAP Respect At Work (RAW), an employee grievance cell, said, ?Crime is physically beating an employee inside the SLI campus does not matter whether he is guilty or innocent. Are you saying that this crime did not happen at all? Are you saying that the investigation of this crime already happened??
In response to an e-mail query from FE, SAP Labs India said, ?As part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of misconduct at one of our facilities, SAP India has conducted a full investigation after certain allegations were made, via anonymous emails, against an SAP India employee. SAP takes all allegations seriously and we fully investigate all reports, anonymous or otherwise. So far, our internal investigations indicate that the anonymous allegation was incorrect and contained unsubstantiated details. In accordance with SAP policy, we have referred this matter to the local police and, with an investigation underway, we cannot discuss details of that case.?
Dey had joined SAP Labs in 2008 and was appointed as the managing director of SAP Labs India in January, 2013.
SAP Labs India is the third largest R&D centre outside Germany for SAP and contributes to a wide spectrum of its product portfolio ranging from developing technology platform and enterprise software, to providing customer support and accelerating sales. It has centres in Bangalore, Gurgaon and Pune.
