A 45-year-old housewife was stabbed to death while resisting a dacoity at her home, but she managed to catch one of the dacoits, who was later overpowered by the neighbours.
The incident took place on Thursday night around 1 am in Lakhanpura area under the Civil Lines Police Station of Gaya.
Four dacoits entered the house of Prahlad Pandey, a priest, though the roof. Armed with pistols and knives they tried to loot valuables including gold jewellery.
While they succeeding in terrorising the priest, his father and two teenage sons, his wife Pramila Devi argued with them and even pushed one of them. She didn’t reveal the location of her jewellery and raised an alar0m. Panicked by her resistance, one of the dacoits stabbed her several times.
She, however, managed to catch hold of a dacoit, who was then overpowered by neighbours. Pramila Devi later succumbed to her injuries. The dacoit under arrest was identified as Roshan Kumar. City SP Ali Ansari said Pramila Devi’s body had resistance marks showing she fought dacoits till the end.
