One of the most successful hatchbacks in the country in the premium category has been undoubtedly the Volkswagen Polo. Launched in India in the year 2009 it has been serving the hatch car enthusiasts across the globe since 1975. Being a German product, the car is known for its steadfast quality, German engineering, dominant performance and phenomenal aesthetic appeal. It has been nearly 5 years and the remarkable feat Polo has achieved cannot be ignored as it goes on to become bestselling product under Volkswagen India?s portfolio. In order to keep sales register ringing, the company has been rejuvenating the Polo model every now and then. And this time they bring in an all-new 2014 VW Polo facelift to India, which will be formally launched on the 15th July 2014.

The new Volkswagen Polo was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. And soon after its launch it went on to sales for the European market. Although, the launch of 2014 Polo was expected in India, but not this early. Nevertheless, this has been a brilliant strategy since beginning from the German carmaker to constantly renovate its product line, especially Polo that has been earning the bread for the Wolfsburg headquartered company.

Coming tothe latest Polo, there has been many welcoming changes that once again make this premium hatch a heartthrob of young car aficionados in the nation. The modification on the exterior comes in the form of new redesigned front bumpers that look slightly more aggressive than earlier with thick chrome stripe running across the modish air-dam,while fog lamp casing now has slick chrome inserts. The front grille now has single chrome underline, although in the earlier model had three-slat chrome inserts. The reworked headlamps retain black housing alongside receives a very visible silver detailing or mirror element, which makes it appear refreshed, however the absence of daytime-running LED is desperately felt. Side profile is kept intact with new alloys. Whereas, the tail lamps gets slight restyling, while bumper gets neat reflectors. There are all chances of joining-in of a new shade i.e. the in-trend bright orange.

Inside the New Volkswagen Polo you get silver finished center console, while there are chances of dual-tone black-grey dashboard making the entry. The 3-spoke steering is all-new sports piano black garnish and a new layout of steering mounted switches. The instrumentation cluster remains near about similar, to the earlier version, whilst the MID (Multi Information Display) that amid the speedometer and tachometer, was red in previous model is expected to be more comprehensive. Furthermore, the optimum comfort level, advanced gadgetry, modern features, convenience elements and occupants safety concerns go hand-in-hand with this new facelift of 2014.

The mechanicals may be a surprise package for everyone. There are all probabilities of new 1.5L 4-cylinder diesel engine replacing the existing 1.6L powertrain on the facelifted Polo. It is said that this new entrant diesel mill will be available in two different states of tunes namely 89bhp and 104bhp. Here the more powerful variant i.e. 104 bhp is expected to get ?GT TDI? branding. With this power, New 2014 VW Polo will become the most powerful hatch in the premium segment ousting Fiat Grande Punto sports 90PS.

Likewise, the Polo petrol comes packed with 1.2L naturally-aspirated 3-cylinder powertrain and a 1.2L TSI 4-cylinder engine, which is likely to remain unchanged. Here the 1.2L 3-cylinder engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox, while the TSI is coupled with the up-to-date 7-speed DSG transmission gearbox.
