The Supreme Court on Monday asked Nokia India to give a ?concrete proposal? by March 11 to resolve the ongoing Rs 21,000-crore tax dispute, which also involves transfer of its Chennai plant’s assets to software giant Microsoft .
A bench headed by Justice AR Dave said that the matter needed consideration as even jobs of around 30,000 employees has to be taken into account. Posting the matter for further hearing on March 11, the court asked Nokia India to give a proposal in ?black and white? to settle the row. Seeking immediate transfer of assets of its Chennai plant as part of the $7.2-billion deal with Microsoft, Nokia has challenged the Delhi HC order that asked it to give an undertaking to settle any final tax liabilities that would be imposed by the I-T department in the tax dispute.
